Modern roller derby was reborn in Texas in the early 2000's, and has exploded all over the world since then. In 2006 the Dead City Rollers, forerunners to the Eves of Destruction, met in parking lots to practice new skills on quad skates. In 2007, the newest sport in Victoria played in front of a sold out crowd at eagle ridge. Fast forward to 2020, and the eves ARE a full wftda member and play roller derby internationally.

Blood, sweat and tears went into getting roller derby off the ground in Victoria. Passionate skaters knew they wanted to play derby, but building a non-profit league from the ground up required significant dedication. These grassroots origins are still present today. The league remains run, operated, and maintained by the skaters. Check out the skaters profiles to see just how many behind the scenes jobs are done by skaters to have a successful season!

Roller derby has evolved as a sport, more and more leagues are taking a serious and competitive approach to derby-- it’s a sport for athletes. Great makeup, outfits, and sass don't cut it anymore, to be a great skater you have to train and learn the game. The Eves of Destruction play by the WFTDA rule set (Women’s Flat Track Derby Association), which has been constantly evolving since 2004 to shape modern derby. In the fall of 2016, the Eves officially became an Apprentice League of the WFTDA, the first step to becoming full members. The Eves gained full WFTDA membership status in early 2018.

In 2016, the league celebrated our 10 year anniversary in Victoria! A group of skaters in a parking lot has grown into a league that includes six teams: The A-Team, Belles of the Brawl, Margarita Villains, Daisy Pushers, The Hard Cores, and The Rotten Apples. The Belles of the Brawl and the Margarita Villains have been around for a number of seasons now. A historic rivalry between the two promises excitement every time they hit the track. 2020 marks the debut of the Daisy Pushers! The Belles of the Brawl are the current league champions; they claimed the Calamity Cup in the 2019 season finale and will face off against one of the other two house teams this year!

The A-Team and The Hard Cores which were created to accommodate our growing number of skaters. The A-Team features the top  skaters from the Eves of Destruction and competes against higher level teams. The Hard Cores are rookie skaters, generally in their first or second season of bouting. After graduating from our Fresh Meat Program, skaters play for the Hard Cores until they are drafted by the Brawlers, Villains, or Daisy Pushers.

The final team under the Eves of Destruction banner is The Rotten Apples. This is our Junior Roller Derby team, a gender-inclusive team with skaters aged 10-18. This season, a number of skaters outgrew the Apples and joined The Hard Cores when they turned 19!

We would be remiss without mentioning our EOD Officials! These folks keep us in line and we couldn't play the sport we love without them! On and off skates, our officials are the backbone of law and order at our games.

Thank you!
