I bench coach the Villains
Do you have a derby hero or a derby crush?
Hmmmm..............no. My league is my hero.Advice for new skaters?
Lots. Too much really.....1: Derby is hard and has gigantic ups and owns. Keep going, it gets better. 2: When you fall a lot it means you are *progressing*. Fall and learn and get better. 3: Try to start going to the gym when you start Raw Meat. It makes a world of difference and stops your body from going totally lopsided. 4: It takes about a *year* before everything comes together in your head, on track. For reals. Until that lightbulb goes off one day (and believe me, you will know when it happens) derby will be total chaos in your brain. Don't worry, it's normal. 5: Seriously try to learn how to compartmentalize your thoughts, feelings and emotions from the beginning. Learn to think of nothing but your skating, the game, the task and your team. It works wonders for your focus and determination.6: Don't take on too many responsibilities. It all seems fun at the beginning because derby is sooo amazing and you want to do "all the things". But doing all of so many things all the time, after 5 years you will burn out. Do less but do it very well and you will be happier and your leaguemates will also be happier because you are happier. Yay's all round.
Anything else to tell us?
Always practice the things you are really crap at during the warm up at practices.
